Steel Center Foot done !!

After having fine mefiablasted the surface of the center foot, i could apply a coat of grey primer to it and the side sheets.

I got the legs sheets delivered today from the shop owner!
Very kind!!
And the first ankle as well the center are grinded now.
On to ankle number two!

Outer ankle build

i started the build of a set of outer ankles.
last saturday i found some time to take care of ankle number 1.

luckily there were no telephone calls or clients coming in to keep me from constantly working on it.
so the main construction could be built until noon.

here fully welded, but not yet grinded: (looks shabby, i know. LOL  but wait until it is cleaned from welding remains!)

after grinding the welding spots down to a clean surface, the next step is to add the tubing and the bearings.

Guideline Center Foot Build

here is a little guideline to build a steel center foot.

what you need is:

lasercut steel sheets for one foot
welding machine
aluminium hammer
steel hammer
working bench
grinding machine
cutting discs
grinding discs  (grit 40)
fixing grips

and a lot of time and patience!

here are the parts you need:

these must be bended according to club specs:

now fully weld all the parts and grind them to a perfect finish. here it is fine media blasted and primered in light grey:

Time to build a steel center foot (again)...

it´s time again to build another steel center foot in cs:l.

getting faster in building from foot to foot, because of optimizing working processes and updating my dxf files for a better handling, welding, bending and of course practicability, it´s really fun to build them now.
okay, you must have the skills and machines to build the part, but in my case everything is given! ;)

i am not giving you a tutorial on how to build one on your own, because everyone is having his own "version" of foot, maybe using different materials to build them, having different tools and so on...

this can be a sort of "guide" how to do it.

i am doing high quality parts for a lot of r2 builders, but doesn´t find the time to continue on my own droid.

One set done, one more to come...

I finished the first leg set today!

Tomorrow I probably start the second set... Let's see, if there are all sheets on stock for this...
