Leg week

This week is leg week !!
I will weld a pair of lightweight steel legs for a friend (instead of the HD legs; they are really too heavy!! LOL)  and the second ali legs for my r2 unit.

A long night...

this night for my daughter, finishing the game of thrones suit from marguery tyrell for her appearance at the fantasy convention at schloß burg today. but it was worth the work:

we got up very early this morning to get some of the rest tickets for today´s convention. and were lucky; she could get two tickets for a girl friend (dressed as a (harry potter) gryffindor student) and for herself.
only a quarter of an hour later, there was a long row of waiting people trying to get inside.

Fantasy Convention

there is a fantasy convention at schloß burg in solingen!! and sean astin, actor in the lord of the ring saga will be there together with other stars!
but he is already booked out!!!
i think my oldest daughter will go there... maybe as a character of game of thrones?

or as star wars character rey skywalker?

or as harley quinn? we will see...

First Ali leg finished...

...with welding and grinding!

Test fitting the Ali horseshoe, Booster Cover, ankle brackets for extended Booster Cover and my Ali ankles...fits pretty good!!

Adjustments

after having some trouble with my welding machine, i was unable to weld correct seems on my ali parts.
thank god there is this fantastic invention, the internet!

i saw some tutorials concerning the right adjustment and use of materials for ali welding.
and i found a little mistake; the adjustment of gas was too low, so there wasn´t enough argon gas around the welding area. the gauge wasn´t ok!! it showed the wrong amount of gas going through!!

after readjusting it, everything went fine! here is a pic of the first leg sheet welded to the side sheets:
(only minor rewelding is necessary!!)

More parts...

...from the lasercutter! yippiiieh!

my first oder for some new parts got wrong. they made me parts for one leg in ali and one leg in steel. not that clever!!
now they made me the second set of these. today i picked them up and hopefully will get them welded (especially the ali ones) soon.
