R2 Build stopped ??

building quality parts for astromechs is very time consuming.

time that i don´t have at the moment. family is first now. and my health. running an enterprise almost alone is already a big thing, but driving to sport events with three kids the whole weekend is a fulltime job too.
and preparing the big garden and the pool for the next summer plus some vintage cars to take care of, or preparing for the next oldtimer season and events, takes time too! 

so i decided to stop building r2 parts for a short time. 
this doesn´t mean, that i will fully stop this, it´s only a short stop to "refuel my tank" or "reload my batteries"...

Another Plane ??

maybe using another plane?
my brother persuaded me to use another beginner plane; he gave me his used cessna. very light too, a little bigger in wingspan and length.
and he gave me his remote control, programmable of course. let me see, what i can do here...

In between...

whilst finishing the r2 parts (visible in the last thread), i got the parts for our father & son project; a RC plane.
made with a special foam and wooden inlays, the plane was pre assembled. very light in weight, with four tiny servos and a brushless motor, powered by a Li-Po battery.
i took some of my small spare time and we built the plane together.
here it is:

the length is 680 mm, the width is 1000 mm.
the picture below shos the inside of the plane´s body with two of the four servos. one of them has two linkages; one is for the front steering wheel, the other is for the rear wing (left/right function).

here you can see the front wheel and the fixation for the steering linkage.

and bove you can see the tiny but very powerful 70W brushless motor. spinner and propeller aren´t fixed yet on this pic.

the plane will be a beginner version for my son.
my brother has a programmable radio control unit, that he will give me, so we can program and mix the other two servos in the main wing with the rear (up/down and left/right) functions.

Finished R2 Parts

i just finished the last parts for a good friend...

now some packaging and the parts are ready for a trip...

Almost finished

Almost all day i worker on these parts; some were already finished, some not.
Now there is only a little bit of work on the last outer foot...sandblasting and primering...

Ankle and feet work

today i have some time to continue on the outer feet and the ankles for a good friend in spain.

the center foot and its side plates are already finished, but there is still some work to do on the other parts. there were missing some metal sheets, that are fortunately here now! thanks to my good buddy at the laser shop!!

Unbelieveable

i still can´t believe it; with the beginning of the new year, my customers throw tons of stuff to sandblast on me! and all this in the first week! no time for r2 parts building, nor having time unboxing or putting all the parts from my new machine (english wheel) together.
and still new stuff! every day! i doesn´t find the time to do all the old stuff from the last year!!
not good!!

Missing parts

while checking the parts for the outer feet and the outer ankles, i realized, that some pieces were missing. so a direct visit at my preferred metal shop/lasercutter was on the agenda for monday morning.
only one day later i could pick them up there!! as always great work for a good price!

English wheel

to build a custom armor for my chrometrooper costume...

i want to go the aluminium way! a very complex build, but possible.
to get this easier done, i just bought an english wheel. when the machine has arrived, i will show you what i can do with it!

luckily i got the next parts for the next costume; a black lycra body suit, black gloves and black balaclava for my head!

i think i can order the english wheel for the ali panels for the armor now!  :)
