Printer issues...again!!

Well, what can i say...the printer had again some problems with the parts...we placed them as close as possible to each other...

But after controlling them, a lot of the parts were crap!

The rod...no words...

 the cover is warped..

this still unknown part hadn't enough contact to the printer bed...

More D-O printing

David from the netherlands made some great files to get the D-O Droid printed. But they were changed in the last months.
Nö i downloaded his files to get everything together for a static build.
Here is the latest pic from the started printing of a whole bunch of parts for it.

400

The last blog writing here was number 400.
I hope you still like what i am posting.
Stay tuned for the next entries.
They will be about my Chrometrooper costume, the D-O Droid, the next star wars movie and maybe some troops in the near future.

Battery boxes and other stuff

giles needed another set of battery boxes for his droid. so i went this morning to my metal shop buddy, to order some new lasercut sheets for its production.

the new design of my prototype drives for astromech units doesn´t please me.
i changed the construction, cut away some areas, need some special ali profiles to get more strength into the construction.

some new holes must be added therefore too.

so the process of building the prototype isn´t finished yet.

the D-O droid must be continued.
the center wheel (we made 4 parts of it to get all of it at once onto the printer bed) msut have to be printed.
and the two side panels too.

here you can see the first layers of the side panels with their support structure...still 12 hours left to print...

R2 Aluminium feet drive frames

i made some new designs on the feet drives and let them got lasercut from my buddy at the metalshop:

here are some pics from the work and the assembly of the drive parts like wheel, belt and motor unit:

the lengthened tubes and threaded rods:

during assembly:

the mounted tubes and threads:

the shortened end (not the final look):

some minor errors in construction lead to a redesign of the frame construction...

length and width aren´t what i wanted to have them...i need to have them more compact...

so another ride to my buddy at the metalshop for a new construction is necessary...
