Upper head part

the upper head part is printed now, after i had to stop it twice.

unfortunately this means, that i have to sort of spin lines on the surface of it.

but i think to get them sanded down a little bit.

Bigger parts for the battle droid

the really long and big parts for the battle droid, like the legs and arms plus the backpack and upper body parts are in their printing process.

this takes days, even with the anycubic chiron printer from my buddy oskar!

and there my occur fails too! Here it stopped suddenly...

Seeker Droid parts

the id10 seeker droid parts are looking really good!

Waiting for parts

...while waiting for the remaining bigger parts for the B1 Battle Droid, that Oskar is printing with his Anycubic Chiron for me, i took the chance to start some new parts for another droid.
It is the Seeker Droid ID10.
And again i have the issues of not be able to print this one lifesize...i don't have the skills to enlarge the stl files to this.
This means, i will leave it the way it was created (and fit my printer bed).

But as you can see, there is always something, that can go wrong...

Gazillions

...of parts...will this ever end??!!

Four prints but only one hit !

i made four prints yesterday evening on two printers.

but only one part made it to the end, the other part was printed three times and failed at 27%, 35% and 72% of the printing time.

this was not what i expected...
only one hand piece was a success!

the source for these issues: the adjustments for the first printer weren´t as precise as those for printer two. and the bed of printer number one was old and slippery. so i will change the print using a big raft under the to be printed part.

Failed twice

my son contacted me today, telling me, that both printers ran out of filament or the filament broke. this is not good and throws me back a full day!

so tomorrow morning i will start the print again...

Hand and foot

and again, the printer were working pretty good. the next parts are ready. feet and hand parts, at least for one hand and for one foot, are ready now.

Printer issues

i stopped a print with the new printer two days ago. when i resumed the printing progress, the filament didn´t have a really good contact to the "old" material i printed the day before.
in the end i could throw it all into the bin!

so i started again two long prints, that should end in the middle of the night. but my wife cut off the electricity of the shed and ther printers immediately stopped. she didn´t know that there were still parts in their printing process.

you can imagine that i was a little bit upset, because i thought the parts would be again crap!

butr nevertheless i restarted the print and hope, that the will finish the way i want them to have... so more this evening!

The next parts were printed for the B1 Battle Droid.

 Unfortunately one of them broke into three pieces after removing raft filament. Not good!
So we had to print it again...

Center foot

I had to do a quick build on a center foot...

Another primer

the feet are done now too! after the sandblasting action, i found out, that i ran out of the primer that i usually used for my r2 parts.
the local home depot had only another brand, so i used this. result: light grey on almost all parts to light white with a drop of grey in it on the outer feet!

the legs are history now, the primer is applied to their surfaces.

today i will do the last welding and metal works on the second leg.
