it is going on. i took some hours of my free saturday afternoon and continued on the ali legs. welding in the inner support ring parts for the shoulder hubs.
then adding all sheets together and welding it completely. in the end it looks like this:
now another grinding job...
...i had to wait some days because of some technical problems with the lasercutter machine. now it works and i could pick up the needed parts to get at least the ali legs done. They made twice the amount of parts i needed in Ali. But no steel ones...

Additionally i was missing a pair of Ali side Covers for the Center foot.
On them i changed the position of the two holes for a better fixing of them to the foot.

I found a shop, that is.pressing in the threaded studs into the Ali side greeblies. Here is a First Shot of them. Looking pretty good to me.
tomorrow is a convention called facts in gent, belgium.
i will drive this evening to my vacation house in south netherland and the next morning with my oldest daughter to facts.
bringing some of my droids and r2 parts with me, i hope this day will be great fun for the two of us!
can´t wait to see again some of the other builders that i sometimes only know via the net.

i couldn´t do very much, only welding some stripes onto the leg sheets.
some parts are missing for whatever reason, so i wanted to order them at my preferred lasercutter.
but he told me that their lasercutting machine wasn´t working at the moment. damn´!!!
it just happened...
i ran out of welding wire. ali welding wire to be precise.
so i changed to welding steel parts. but very soon i saw that there were some parts missing, so that i can´t finish those r2 parts too. not good!!
i immediately ordered some new spools with welding wire for the ali parts. and luckily they come one day earlier than announced. very good!!
but my biggest concern was/is, that i haven´t got enough time to continue on the parts at the moment. my enterprise is full of parts from various customers, that need to be sandblasted. so work is before hobby and i am working like crazy to fullfill the time frames of my customers.
not good!

...and we will drive to the Netherlands, then the morning after, we drive to Belgium, to see our R2 builder friends.
Christian from france will get his left steel foot and i hope to show my droid parts on the show.
...is desperately needed by a buddy of mine in France.
He had a fire in his working shed some time ago and the rescued rc plane models and r2 parts had severe heat and fire damages or were completely crap!
I will build a foot for him for free (!!) and bring it to FACTS in Gent in Belgium in November.

i just started them yesterday evening...
I had to Update my List of parts, that i still have to build.
Man, that is a Long list of R2 parts. Mainly in Aluminium, but some parts in Steel too!

i could change the gas bottle last saturday. the shop was luckily open and i went there before starting my business.
now it´s time to weld the newest ali feets, that i could spot weld on some spots, before the gas bottle was empty.

of course this happened on a friday afternoon, when the gas bottle shop has already closed.
so i finish the last ali feet set for my buddy frank with adding putty here and there to get that perfect finish.
this means sanding afterwards, when dried out, then adding some layers of light grey primer...
Today was my welding day. I started welding a 1 mm Center foot in Aluminium. Here a lot of feet parts, mostly already bended:
The channel is not yet welded in and the welding points aren't grinded yet.
The final product; this time my work was so perfect (clap on my shoulder!! Lol), that i didn't even had to use fine putty, that needed to be sanded. I only used an excenter sanding machine for the finish.
so many builders need my help!
i do what i can to help them!
here is another bunch of parts that i am currently building...some parts are ready, some must be build in the near future!
...of Ali battery boxes can be build.
I think i will offer a set of them as second choice version in the Forum. The holes for the battery harnesses aren't perfect due to the small welded area.
doc snyder had a bunch of ali parts for me on stock.
i needed the internal parts for my two front vents of r2-t4.

But it needs to be done to get a good Finish!
after having repaired my mothers mercedes benz 280 sl, i found the time to continue on those many r2 parts, i still must build or finish...
yesterday afternoon i could finish another ali battery box, that i had started some weeks ago. but i wasn´t very concentrated and i built another left one instead of a right one.
so again i had to start a fourth one...and a fifth and a sixth...and so on...
luckily my skills and experiences in building them are growing from part to part, so that i am pretty fast now.
but it takes a lot of time anyway!
Once not paid attention, i made three left Ali battery boxes, but only one right Box (not on Pic):
